Our client is a very well respected player and contributor to Canada’s healthcare industry. This newly created, national in scope position is located at their Brampton, Ontario headquarters. Reporting to VP, Laboratory Operations & Customer Service, the Director, Laboratory Operations & Support Services provides leadership and direction for all continuous improvement activities within the company. The incumbent will work closely with the VP, Laboratory Operations & Customer Service to set the governing strategy and site specific deliverables that will promote and drive the culture of ongoing continuous improvement. Aside from leading a team that encompasses both quality and facility management areas, the individual will be an instrumental figure in spearheading training programs for new and existing employees.
Key Requirements:
• Develop and implement a 1-2 year business plan and provide leadership to direct reports
• Build unbreakable relationships with operational units that promote and foster operational excellence
• Advise, coach, mentor and role model desired operational excellence behaviours
• Provide operational leadership, planning and implementation of 6 Sigma/Lean initiatives, compliance and quality programs, facilities and technical support
• Deliver optimal results against appropriate performance metrics related to turnaround time, cost, quality and people
• Develop, measure and improve various laboratory operations and customer service metrics
• Work with Organization Development and Learning Department to build appropriate leadership development programs
• Implement Corrective Action processes to identify, monitor and control factors affecting process quality performance
• Implement Quality programs and initiatives that will reduce/minimize process variation
• Improve and standardize facilities standards and equipment across all laboratories
• Promote and maintain a culture of employee health and safety
Ideal Candidate:
• University degree in engineering or business is strongly preferred coupled with an exhibited background of impact and leadership in continuous improvement, Six Sigma and/or Lean
• Green Belt/Black Belt and MBA an asset
• In-depth experience within a regulated quality focused setting is strongly preferred (knowledge of Laboratory Operations an asset)
• An interactive style that easily works with all levels, creates engagement and initiates positive action and results
• Operational excellence coupled with the capability to build a 1-2 year business plan
• Sound business acumen and the ability to work with financial information
• Project Management disciplines and the ability to set realistic goals and objectives for varied groups at varied sites
The targeted hiring base salary is in the $95,000 – $110,000 range, plus an attractive bonus. In addition, the organization provides a variety of other formal and ancillary benefits associated with a senior level role. Final compensation will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience level and background.
