Our client is a very well respected player and contributor to Canada’s healthcare industry. This exciting opportunity is located at their Brampton, Ontario headquarters. Reporting to VP Laboratory Operations and Customer Service, the role is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of a specialized department. This will include a team of 6-8 direct reports and an overall team of close to 200 people. Instrumental in this directive is the ability to provide leadership and managerial acumen to the group while also lending credibility and knowledge to the technical development of the department.
Key Requirements:
• Develop and implement a 1-2 year business plan, and provide leadership to direct reports
• Provide day-to-day operational leadership planning and execution
• Focus on competitive differentiators of time cost and quality to drive efficiency, effectiveness and growth
• Develop and implement best in class continuous improvement initiatives based on 6 Sigma/Lean methodologies
• Build and develop a functional organization that maximizes core competencies, technology and people
• Plan and implement the execution of a modernization strategy
• Develop, measure and improve various laboratory operations and customer service metrics
• Liaise with National Discipline Directors to ensure seamless implementation of new testing technologies and processes
• Promote a culture of employee health/wellness by addressing both long- and short-term employee health/safety issues
• Conduct proficiency testing and address any outstanding Corrective Action Requests
Ideal Candidate:
• University degree is required coupled with experience managing and leading a team
• Exposure to a lab environment where strong influencing/change management/leadership skills have been exhibited
• In-depth knowledge of processes, key drivers and continuous improvement methodologies
• Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean principles is strongly preferred
• Capability to build a 1-2 year business plan
• Operations excellence technologies strategies and trends
• Proven management experience including the necessary coaching and performance management skills
The targeted hiring base salary is in the $120,000 – $140,000 range, plus an attractive bonus. In addition, the organization provides a variety of other formal and ancillary benefits associated with a senior level role. Final compensation will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience level and background. Local candidates are ideal, however, will relocate.
