The Procurement Leader will be responsible for developing an improved purchasing/procurement/sourcing strategy with a focus on minimizing the organization¿s purchasing costs while continually striving to improve the quality and reliability of supply. This will require sophisticated contract negotiation and strategic management of supplier and vendor relationships. Additionally, the Procurement Leader will be accountable to establish structure, systems, processes and measure to support the achievement of lean manufacturing goals across two facilities. This will include the identification of low cost country supply, increased inventory turns, and decreased investment capital. As a well-established but privately held outsourcer of pharmaceutical products, our client has a solid reputation for the manufacture, package and testing of liquids and semi-solids for leading pharmaceutical clients internationally. Reports to: COO Location: Mississauga Compensation: The compensation will consist of a competitive base salary plus a discretionary bonus, and an extensive benefits package. Final compensation will be dependent on the successful candidate¿s experience level and background. Accountabilities: ¿ Identify low cost/high quality suppliers, negotiate agreements and contracts, and develop ongoing strategic partner relationships. ¿ Ensure strict adherence to quality specifications and quality control. ¿ Coordinate activities within material management to ensure the timely arrival of incoming material, and assist in the overall management and reduction of inventories across all sites. ¿ Assist in the development of purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems and procedures, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. ¿ Mentor a team of buyers across the organization¿s focus factories. ¿ Act as a resource for factory leaders and commercial operations leaders across the organization. Requirements: ¿ Bachelor¿s degree with a certification in a related professional society. ¿ Minimum of 7 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, at least 3 of which should be in a leadership/managerial capacity. ¿ Knowledge of SAP-ERP system and other MRP systems is an asset. ¿ Knowledge of industry specifications for raw materials and packaging components. ¿ Experience with LEAN philosophy and methodologies required. ¿ Demonstrates strength in achieving targets, meeting deadlines and implementing/managing change. ¿ Effective leadership skills with a proven ability to comprehend the dynamics of a manufacturing environment. ¿ Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast paced environment.
